Alois Lageder "Riff" Pinot Grigio 2005

This fresh and light Italian wine has a slightly yeasty characteristic; floral, medium bodied, lemony and crisp with the requisite almond note on the finish. The name "riff" (German for reef), refers to the Dolomite's geologic origin.

Chilean red with deep ruby colour, it has a nose of crushed berry fruit and a hint of raisins. Blackcurrant flavours dominate the palate, lush and savoury with a firm finish.

Glorious buttercup yellow colour - a butterscotch nose follows with hints of citrus and candied fruits. The palate shows toasty oak married to candied tropical fruit, but with refreshing balancing acidity. Partners chicken and seafood dishes perfectly.

Inky black and dense, with ripe cassis and damson scents and overlaid with hints of tobacco and sandalwood. Serve at room temperature with stews and steaks as well as grilled meats and hard cheeses.
